    FF Open Space (Firefox 2)

I have an substantial (and maddening) open space at the bottom of my FireFox display below the Status Bar. It is obviously part of FireFox, it contains a single red caret at the left about a third of the way down, and if I hover on or in front of or immediately below that my cursor turns to an insertion point (for which nothing appears to be insertable). This is under Vista Business SR-1.

    Any ideas?

Check out this article: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Gray+b...+the+status+bar. Does that solve it?

It did indeed solve it. The butler, I mean Copernic Desktop 2 (latest version) appears to have been the culprit. It also solved the mystery of whatever became of my Bookmarks Toolbar. Thank you very much!
