    Unrecognised Database Format (Access 2003)

For the last 12 months I have been using a database both at home and work using Access 2003, all has been fine.
Suddenly, any database I create at home but try to open at work gets the message "Unrecognised Database Format" and refuses to open. Same happens at home with any database created at work.

The version of Access used at work is 2003 (11.8103.8132) SP2 and the version I am using at home is 2003 (11.6566.8202) SP

I have done Compact and Repair, I have run Detect and Repair in Office but the issue remains.

Any suggestions? I am grateful for your thoughts.

How do you transfer the databases between home and work?

Via USB flash drive memory stick - come to think of it I just got a new one recently... could that be the problem?

You mght try zipping the databases before copying to the USB stick.

Thanks Hans, I emailed a database and it worked, so your solution would also work I expect.

But why? The previous USB flash drive I used worked OK, so why is this new one corrupting Access databases? Other files such as Word, PDF, Text and so on work fine. Is this a well known issue?

    Thanks again for your help.

I don't know what causes this, I'm just glad you've found a workaround.
