Try the following:
- Quit all instances of Excel.
- Start Windows Explorer, and navigate to Cocuments and Settings<username>Application DataMicrosoftExcel.
- Application Data is a hidden folder, so you must show hidden files and folders in order to see it.
- Delete all files in this folder, and also all files in the subfolder XLStart. (Alternatively, move them to another folder).
- Select Start | Run...
- Type
regedit
and press Enter or click OK.
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice11.0.
- Delete the Excel key or rename it to for example ExcelOld.
- Quit RegEdit.
- Select Start | Run...
- Type
excel /regserver
and press Enter or click OK.

You can do it temporarily by starting Excel in Safe mode: hold down the control key when you start Excel and answer Yes to start in safe mode.
