Export from Quickbooks Pro 2006 into Excel 2003 (Excel 2003)

    Hi,
My former co-worker now works for a very small company that uses Quickbooks Pro, and I am of no help to her as I know nothing about it Quickbooks... I'm wondering if it is possible for her to use the Microsoft Query function in Excel to extract data from Quickbooks Pro 2006 into Excel 2003. She said that she can export using some kind of Quickbooks export utility, however when it exports it gives her all the cosmetic formatting (subtotalling, etc.)... she' s only interested in raw data in a database format. I'm assuming it's possible, however my quick search on the internet only showed programs for sale, as opposed to using something like Microsoft Query. Any ideas?
    Thanks so much!

There's an ODBC driver for QuickBooks: QODBC Driver for QuickBooks. It's not free, but one can download a free trial version. Microsoft Query can use this ODBC driver to import data from QuickBooks.

I usually go to menu Report --> Acc tax --> Transaction detail, and just select "Modify report" on tab "Display", you can select what column to display so your report will look like raw database that ready to export to excel where you can manipulate as you want. I used to include column Transaction Number, based on that I can easily filter and delete un necessary raw related with subtotals and else. To include all transaction, go to "Filter" tabs and select all account

to export, just go to menu "export" and on tab "advance" you can eliminate such as subtotalling and anyelse which you can do also later in excel,

    regards

An easier solution if you only want the raw data, is to use the Quickbooks Print/to file/csv file capability. Opening the csv file in Excel will then give you the data without the formatting.
