*.pst file size (2003)

I've heard "rumors" about the Outlook.pst file size. When do I need to be concerned?
    Thanks.

It depends. Outlook 2003 supports two types of .pst file:

The older Outlook 97-2002 format; such files have a maximum size of 2 GB but it would be wise to stop at 1.5 GB or so. If you created a .pst file in one of the older versions of Outlook and kept on using it in Outlook 2003, it's probably still in that format.

The newer Outlook 2003-2007 format that supports Unicode characters; such files have a maximum size of 20 GB. Again, you probably shouldn't push it to the limit - perhaps stop at 18 GB or so.[/list]See The .pst file has a different format and folder size limit in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2003 for more info.
