# Thread: Find Non Duplicates (Office 2000)

1. ## Find Non Duplicates (Office 2000)

Hi,
I have a list in column A of 680 rows. I have a similar list in Column B but only 640 rows. I need to find the 40 items from column A that are not duplicated in column B.
What formula would I use?

Thanks

Hi Louise

Have a look at this <post:=340,261>post 340,261</post:> and the ensuing conversation to give you some ideas

Let's assume the data are in A1:A680 and B1:B640.
If you want to create a column with formulas, try something like
<code>
=IF(COUNTIF(\$B\$1:\$B\$640,A1)=0,"X","")
</code>
in C1 and fill down to C680. Column C will contain an "X" if the value in column A does not occur in column B.

You could also apply conditional formatting to A1:A680 to highlight the non-duplicated values, with Formula Is option and the following formula:
<code>
=COUNTIF(\$B\$1:\$B\$4,A1)=0</code>

Hi Jerry,

Thanks so much for finding that. I did a search but must not have entered the correct terms.
Will give it a try!

Thanks again.
