Incorrectly thinks document is Word 6.0/95 (Word 2003)

A couple of users are getting "Some features of this document are not supported by Microsoft Word 6.0/95" when they go to save a document. They insist they have the normal Save *doc set (actually conversion to 95 shouldn't even be available). Any ideas?

What do you see in the file type box if you select Save As in a document created by one of these users?
You might also look at the Compatibility tab of Tools | Options while such a document is active (the settings in this tab are per document).

Good emphasis - when I went and looked at the user's options it said save as Word document (*.doc) - but it also had the "Disable features introduced after Word 95" ticked!! (Although how it became ticked - or why 95 was even listed as an option - is something I'm not going to waste time chasing down).
