    VPTNFILE.761

    (WinXP,sr2)

In C:Windows I find the following:
VTPNFILE.761. The size is 15,188; Type is 761 File. Properties doesnít give any clue to what it is. Neither does any of the searches Iíve performed. So, what IS it? Is it needed?

    Thanks, as always,
    Acer

It's VPTNFILE (as in the subject), not VTPNFILE (as in your post), I assume? That's an anti-virus definition file from Trend Micro. The .761 is a version number. Do you have their anti-virus program or do you run their online scanner HouseCall?

    Re: VPTNFILE.761

Thank you, Hans. Since the file is dated 2005, I guess I did run it then. So, it's okay to delete it?

    Many thanks, Acer

How did you find that info? I searched & searched (without the typo....)

    I searched for VPTNFILE.

Yes, I assume it's safe to delete the file now.
