Bookmarks Folder in Firefox 3 (Firefox 3.0)

I have begun using Firefox as my default browser. What I can't find is how to create a new folder in Bookmarks. I have checked under every thing (File, Edit, View, Tools & Help). IE 7 has it down pat, it's Firefox that has me stumped.

All help will find me more than willing to try your solution.

Use the In Firefox 2, it's Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks. Anything similar in Firefox 3?

If it's not on the menu, try the Bookmarks sidebar (Ctrl+B should open it).

You can click on the star in the location bar once and it will create a bookmark and store it in a special folder called "Unsorted Bookmarks". If you click on the star a second time you get the "Edit Bookmark" dialog. If you click on the small button on the right hand side of that dialog, on the same line as the folder name, it will expand the dialog with further options including the option to create a new folder.

Another method to create a folder is in the Bookmarks Library (select "Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks" to open up the library). In the Library the option to create a new folder is included in the Organize menu.

For more information on bookmarks in Firefox 3 see Bookmarks and Organizing Bookmarks, both from the Firefox support knowledge base.

Re: Bookmarks Folder in Firefox 3 (Firefox 3.0)

I looked for it again and under Organize, where I hadn't looked before, I found: New Folder. Success, I now have my new folder.

In the process I discovered that 'Sort By Name" failed to work, my new folder's now at the very bottom of the list and the folder's title is "Banks & Credit Cards" which should appear very near the top of the list.

Is their a way to sort folders in bookmarks?

Tony, the only star I see is in the address or URL windows, is that the one you're referring too?

In my reply to Jscher2000 I explained that I had found the way to create a new folder and mentioned that I saw no visible way to sort the folders by name. I read and printed Bookmarks and Organizing Bookmarks, but I see no mention of how to sort them. Is that possible using FF3?

In Firefox 2, there were separate sort sequences for the Organize dialog and for the Bookmarks menu/sidebar. I'm going to assume it's the same in Firefox 3. Depending on which on you want to sort... the Organize dialog sort should work there, and to sort the menu/sidebar, open the sidebar (Ctrl+ and use right-click > Sort by name.
