    'Host Process' stopped (SP1)

For two days now, I've been getting a message box that says, "Host Process for WidnowsServices stopped working and was closed." OK...can anyone tell me what Host Process is? What am I missing since it closed? What would cause this problem?

    Re: 'Host Process' stopped (SP1)

Here is a Microsoft reference Host Process for Windows Services which explains the file svchost.exe.

A more generic definition can be found at What is svchost.exe And Why Is It Running? at http://HowToGeek.Com.

In a nutshell, svchosts.exe run applications, functions and procedures in .DLL (or dynamic Link Library) Files. You need to know the application you were running to know which one caused the error message.

I did find references at http://Microsoft.Com Knowledged database using the search "vista host process for windows services stopped".

The above link has a reference to the "Windows Vista Solution Center" if additional help is needed.
