    Can't send or receive (XP)

I have just replaced my PC and did have outlook working, but now I get a Runtime Error (do you wish to debug?) Line 297 unspecified error, when I start Outlook. Then when I try to send I get ' the operation failed'
any ideas as how to fix this?

Have you set up an e-mail profile and an e-mail account? Have you tested sending and receiving in the account settings? What was the result?

It seems some fool fiddled with the registry, fortunately I (oops I mean the fool) made a backup of the registry and restoring it fixed the problem.

I am still left with the problem of not being able to access my contacts via the address book.

I can see my contacts but when I try to access the Outlook address book I get the message - "The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened, it my have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions."

This also happens when I try to select contacts from the dropdown list in address book, PS - contacts is listed twice in the dropdown.
