    Cut+Paste won't work (Office 2003 SP3)

    Hi folks!

Perhaps this question was already posted, but I couldn't find it. We ran into a very strange problem today. One of our employees is working with several excel files every day. One thing he is doing daily is to cut some data from one file and paste it into another one (using the Edit Menu). So far so good.
Today he called me with this problem: The cells he cuts from file A remain in file A, even after he pasted it into file B. When he marks the cells in file A and selects cut, the cells are framed with this "moving" frame we all know. Then he switches to file B and pastes the cells there. The "moving" frame in file A, along with the cells, remains where it is.
And now comes the funny part: If you use Ctrl-X and Ctrl-V it's working just as it's supposed to.

If you try the same procedure, including the same files, on another machine, everything works fine. Any ideas, anyone?

P.S.: Sure, we could use the shortcut and ignore the edit menu on this machine, but I don't think that's the plan. <img src=/S/compute.gif border=0 alt=compute width=40 height=20>

Check carefully that the two workbooks are open in the same instance of Excel. If the user happened to start a second instance of Excel by clicking twice on a shortcut to Excel, Edit | Cut will act like Edit | Copy.

The user can also try Jan Karel Pieterse's <!post=Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in XL,290455>Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in XL<!/post>.

    Hello Hans!

    Thx for the lightning-fast answer.
    You were right, like almost every time. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
Our user opened excel twice. I think we have to teach her the difference betwenn single-click and double-click once again.
Anyway, thx for your help. I didn't know this behaviour of excel.
