    Outlook Profiles (Outlook 2007)

Ok Who unleashed the bad voodoo I am receiving today with Outlook?
I am having two problems this morning with my Outlook e-mail.
The first is with one account sending, and the other is with another account not sending a delayed message. I am my breaking point and am wondering if I should go and completely delete the profile and start over. I have tried everything I can think of short of that.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks John

Are you getting any error messages? Have you tried pinging your mail server? Have you tried connecting to the mail server with telnet?

    Re: Outlook Profiles (Outlook 2007)

I am getting a message that it cannot find the outgoing mail server. I spent almost an hour with the e-mail provider and they also are perplexed because my secondary e-mail address is working just fine, and other than the login names are identical.
No we did not try to ping it or telnet
    Thanks John

Do you mean that your secondary e-mail address uses the same servers as your primary? Can you send and receive from the secondary?

Make sure that when you trying to fix things that "Coma" was used instead of a "Period". I have been known tho mistype things as I am trying to fix things.

Have you tried a 'fake' update to the primary account settings (i.e. change the server name, save it, change it back, save it)? Can you run a successful test from the account settings dialog?

I don't know what else to try other than a new e-mail profile.

    <P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by DaveA on 02-Jul-08 07:19. Added about the out going server)</P>Another typing error that I find is the use of SMTP vs. SMPT <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

Also are you using the same ISP for connecting to the internet and as your email provider?
I know a few people that run on wireless, and they do NOT always get connected to their ISP but to a neighbors. If they do not have then right settings in their email program their email provider will not allow them to use a different connection.

Check your server connections. Open Outlook, Tools, Accounts, change, and then More button. There you need the Out going Server tab. See attachment for settings.

    Re: Outlook Profiles (Outlook 2007)

Well everything was checked and double checked by another set of eyes. First my ISP said that Comcast was blocking them but I knew better since they (my e-mail provider) were to able send me e-mail just fine.
Since my e-mail provider made the switch to gmail handling everything it has been a total nightmare. But thats another story! as it turns out all of my incoming e-mail was being held on the gmail server to be delivered to my inbox when they felt D#$%$ Good and Ready. Not any more. They also felt that they had the right to filter my e-mail for spam! Not anymore! Ok! I am calming back down. then there was an issue of settings getting changed? and we went through all of those again and found one that apparently was incorrect. Remember here that all was working fine for about three days. And last but not least, Comcast changed their outgoing e-mail port. How nice of them to tell anyone!
Ok! I am done ranting and raving. I have been sending information all day from my business laptop to my personal laptop (easier than putting it on my pocket drive and transffering it) and it came in in about 30 seconds or so.
    I really appreciate everyones help. <img src=/S/bananas.gif border=0 alt=bananas width=33 height=35>

Glad you seem to have it resolved. Maybe an adult beverage or ten is in order. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
