Mouse Clicks Do Not Work In Hyperlinked Presenatio (Office 97)

A user has created a hyperlink in his Word document that opens a PowerPoint 97 presentation. However, the slide show will not respond to the standard left mouse clicks to advance the slides. He has to right click to open the menu then left click on the Advance option.

I was able to re-create the problem when I used the Insert Hyperlink option in Word. When I copied the slide show and used the Paste as Hyperlink option, the standard left mouse clicks work. The user wants to use the text hyperlink (from Insert Hyperlink option) and have the standard left mouse click work to advance the show. Is this possible?

I have 2000, but it appears to behave in the same way. You don't get regular PowerPoint, and you don't get the viewer, you get something else. I found no solution, but if your user selects Full Screen from the Browse menu, the presentation will behave normally.

    Hi Lee,

Not that I know of. The PowerPoint presentation is running as "Browsed by individual" rather than "Presented by a speaker".

Either use the "Next Slide" and "Previous Slide" commands at the bottom of the vertical scrollbar or you'll need to add some action buttons on the Slide Master(s) that advance to the next, previous, beginning, end, etc.

Once you select View/Slide Master (but sure to make these changes on the Title Master), go to Format/Action Buttons. Display the ToolTips to determine the default actions and just add them to the masters. They can be formatted as any AutoShape can be.

For additional information on this, you might want to post the PowerPoint newsgroup so you can take advantage of their knowledge on this subject. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Thanks for the info. I thought this would be the case but I just wanted to get confirmation from experts.
