can't print - prompted to save (Excel 2003)

My coworker can not print an Excel spreadsheet that I sent to him via Outlook. He saved it to his My Documents folders. When he opens it and clicks print, a "Save File to" dialog box opens up and he is prompted to save the .xls document as an .xps document. He cannot print unless he does that.
Any ideas on why this might be?
    Thanks-Nancy

It looks like your coworker has set Microsoft XPS Document Writer as default printer.
If this is not his preference, he can correct this in the Printers and Fax Devices control panel - right-click the appropriate printer and select "Set as default printer" from the popup menu.
If he wants to keep Microsoft XPS Document Writer as default printer, he can still print the workbook to another printer: select File | Print... and select the appropriate printer from the dropdown list in the Print dialog.
