    Web Design

My wife and her sister want to do a web page to show of their arts crafty stuff. Anyone have any suggestions as to a program to use that is easy, CHEAP, and or free?
    Thanks John

I'd have them sign up for 'officelive' it is free and very easy to set up and design the web pages. When officelive first opened they would give you a top level domain name, now they give you a subdomain. (I believe something like www.officelive.subdomainname.com or somthing like that.)
I think you have to give them a credit card number but if you use the free option they never charge it.

You have to go to www.officelive.com and then click on Officelive for small business.

KompoZer is free and has easy-to-use WYSIWYG web page editing.

Do you already own MS Office ? If so, you can use Word and Excel to design the page and save as HTML for posting.

Depending on where they plan to post the web pages, the hosting service may offer free web hosting software.

Something to be aware of if using Office to create web pages. It can produce sites that work well in Internet Explorer but not so well in other browsers. The office suite generates code specifically designed for Internet Explorer.

I know it works with IE and FireFox as long as you do not try to use some of the specialized Microsoft features. I can not attest to other browsers.

The kids at <img src=/w3timages/censored.gif alt=censored border=0> use office when learning to setup websites before moving on to other more complex techniques. One of the sites they started with for designing websites was Accessible Design Guide - Introduction for designing websites for any browsers. I am STILL learning ....

    Re: Web Design

Many web hosts compete on the basis of their site building wizards. These may be restrictive to people who are artistically inclined, but if the idea is to get online quickly, they can render something presentable with minimum effort. Example: Yahoo! Web Hosting (Small Business) $12/month; 30-day cancellation.
