    Mail Merge - Date Format (Word 2003)

    I created a excel spreadsheet. I'm looking to mail merge this report and having the SI Date read such as: Wednesday, July 9, 2008 or even just July 9, 2008. When I mail merge it the date comes out to read 7/09/08.

    Now can I get the right format????? THANKS!!

    Check out the following thread regarding the method of querying your Excel file. Apparently OLE DB and/or ODBC became the default query method in recent versions of office, but you can use the older DDE method to work around their limitations:

    Hi TheDon,

    You could add a date switch to the mergefield. Here's how:
    1. Select the mergefield and press Shift-F9 to display the field coding. It should look something like {MERGEFIELD xlDate}
    2. Add '@ "dddd, MMMM d, yyyy"' to the field, thus {MERGEFIELD xlDate @ "dddd, MM d, yyyy"}
    3. Press F9 to update the field
    4. Run your mailmerge.
    Cheers,
