    Hyperlink Removal (2003)

    Greetings!

    I routinely grab webpage information to paste into a word doc, and there are a lot of hyperlinks involved. Once the data is in Word, I no longer need the hyperlinks.

    Is there an add-in, or some method to remove the hyperlinks all at once? Excel has Add-ins (ex: PUP6) that has a utility that removes hyperlinks.

    Thanks,
    Brad

    You could place the following macro in your Normal.dot and make it available through a custom toolbar button and/or keyboard shortcut:
    <code>
    Sub RemoveHyperlinks()
    Dim i As Integer
    For i = ActiveDocument.Hyperlinks.Count To 1 Step -1
    ActiveDocument.Hyperlinks(i).Delete
    Next i
    End Sub
    </code>
    This macro will remove all hyperlinks from the active document.

    If you do a "Paste Special, UnFormated Text" you will not get the links, just the text that the link is named.

    Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Sweet! Now, to make this an Add-in for Word.

    Think I will try.

    Thanks,

    An add-in in Word is simply a template (.dot) that is stored in the user's Startup folder for Word.

    Ok.... Got it.

    I created a 'template' with the macro, but I could not get Word to keep the item checked in the Template and add-ins dialog box.

    So I added the macro into the normal.dot file. Maybe not the best solution, but it works.

    When the item is checked, the pointer to the macro works, but when not checked, no link...

    You should store the template with the macro in Word's Startup folder (Cocuments and Settings<username>Application DataMicrosoftWordStartup), not in the user templates folder.

    Hi Brad,

    An alternative to both the macro and the unformatted text pasting (which removes pictures & tables) is to select the pasted material and press Ctrl-Shift-F9. If you don't have any other fields in the document, the easiest way to do the selection is via Ctrl-A.
