    Problem compressing images (PP 2003)

I had a bit of trouble when adding slides with new images to a PP. The images (all jpegs) appeared to save OK, but when I opened up the presentation again, I was faced with the dreaded "big red crosses" in the image placeholders. No matter, I replaced the images and saved again and all was OK.
However, some of the images are very large and when I try to Save As, and click on Tools and Compress Pictures, I get a warning pop-up that says "You must select a shape", and PP will not compress the images. What shape??? I've compressed pictures in presentations before and not had this issue, does anyone have an answer, please?

You may have to select each image separately and compress it (Format | Picture..., click Compress...).

Thanks, Hans. That sort of seemed to work. Each image could be compressed, but afterwards, when I now try to save the PP, an error message appears to say that "there was trouble finding [pathname]". I think somewhere along the line something has been corrupted.

    regards,

    Simon

Does Edit | Links... give a clue?

Hmm, not sure. I don't think are any links in the PP, as the option is greyed out, and I certainly haven't created any links on purpose myself, though the PP was originally created by someone else.

It does look as if the presentation is slightly corrupt (which might also explain why the general compress pictures option didn't work).
