    The Earth is not round

Al Bear Einstein was heard to say and then added " This statement over the millennia has been many the cause of an argument JB"

Jezza Bear couldn't believe his ears when he heard what Al Bear just said but then saw the twinkle in his eyes and decided Al Bear was teasing him.

What was Al Bear saying, surely the Earth is not flat, he must mean something else? What do you think Al Bear was going on about?

    In other words it's an <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">oblate spheroid</span hide>, with lumps on.

    Ooooh, what to do <img src=/S/hmmn.gif border=0 alt=hmmn width=15 height=15>

I have two correct answers but one more correct that the other, therefore

Chris you get half a [choccy bar]
Stuart you get one and half [choccy bar]s for using the correct term <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Oo, thank you.

I never new that "with lumps on" was a term!

Now, can't every point on the earth be equated by a mathematical formula with 73 variables ?? I think I read that somewhere....

    <img src=/S/hmmn.gif border=0 alt=hmmn width=15 height=15>... an <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">oblate spheroid</span hide> you say? Now I'm beginning to wonder about the <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">pull of the moon's gravity. This would also distort it along an orthogonal axis. Maybe it's then an oblate ellipsoid?</span hide>... but still with lumps on it. of course!
