    Windows Shutdown Slow (XP)

Is there any software that can be run to help identify why Windows shutdown is taking so long? About three weeks ago I started to enounter a challenge where upon clicking on the start button the laptop would appear to lock up and take 3-5 minutes to eventually get to the shutdown dialog box. All programs have been exited properly prior to clicking on the "start button". No new programs have been added.

    Your thoughts are appreciated.

Have you already looked at the various Microsoft aritcle's from Windows XP - troubleshoot shutdown? Those certainly would be the first things to try.
