    Quit Page Numbering (2003)

I have a document (20 pages) with an Appendix (8 pages), with the two separated by a title sheet. I wish to paginate the document only, beginning on the 2nd page. I have tried section breaks, but I still get the appendix numbering which I don,t want. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Go to the Appendix.
Select View | Header and Footer.
If the page number is in the footer, click the "Switch between Header and Footer" button to activate the footer.
Click the "Same as Previous" button so that it is off (not depressed).
You can now remove the page number in the appendix without affecting the first part of the document.

Thanks Hans. Unfortunately, I don't see a "Same as Previous" button. Where might it be located?
    Thanks again.

This button is available on the Header and Footer toolbar that should be displayed automatically when you're in Header and Footer view. See screenshot below.

Thanks. On my machine, the button you are referring to comes up as "Link to Previous" as opposed to "Same as Previous".

    Re: Quit Page Numbering (2003)

Hi Hans, me again. My problem lingers: I have a header that includes fields for the current page number as well as the total number of pages (i. e., "Page X of Y"). I did as you said, and my goal was accomplished of not showing the page numbers on the appendices pages. However, in the headers of the main document where I want page numbering, the "of Y" field is picking up the total number of pages of the documents as opposed to just the number of pages of the letter. Any ideas as to a fix?
    Thanks.

If your main document consists of a single section, you can use a NumPages field for the "Y" in "X of Y".
    - Activate the header of the main document.
    - Right-click the "Y".
    - Select Toggle Field Codes from the popup menu.
    - You'll see { NUMPAGES }
    - Change NUMPAGES to SECTIONPAGES.
    - Press F9 to hide the field codes and update the field.

If your main document contains multiple sections, it becomes more complicated.
