    Remove OE (6.0)

How do I remove OE from my system? Or at least get it to stop opening .eml attachments? This just started happening a few weeks ago. I use Incredimail and every time I open a forwarded .eml attachment, it opens in OE, which is very annoying. Please advise.

I believe you can change the file associations by opening Windows Explorer. Open folder Options (Click Tools -> Folder Options). Click on "File Types" tab. Scroll down until you find "EML" File Types and select it. then click "Change" button under "Details for 'EML' extension".

An "Open With" popup window now appears. Scroll down until you see your e-mail program and select. OR, if the program is not in the selection, click on browse and goto directory and select program that opens you e-mail program.

I could not find "EML" listed in the file types tab in Windows Explorer. Next?

That's strange - if there is no entry for .EML in the File Types tab of Folder Options, Windows shouldn't know how to open .EML files and ask you every time.

Anyway, you can remove Outlook Express:
    - Open the Add / Remove Programs control panel.
    - Click Add or Remove Windows Components.
    - Clear the check box for Outlook Express.
    - Click OK.

Okay, when I went to Add or Remove Windows Components, the box next to Outlook Express was not checked. Regardless, I checked it, went through the paces, closed everything, went back in and UNchecked it, went through the paces again and it STILL opens when I open a .EML file. Weird! Guess I'm just stuck with it?

If EML does NOT exist Windows won't know what to do when you try to open it. Maybe you missed it. Can you post a screenshot of your File types in Windows Explorer where EML should be?
