    Unknown Device

I am helping a friend who has a DELL Dimension 4600 running Windows XP Pro. After he updated to Service Pack 3 - the system said it found a new hardware device but could not find the driver for it. In Device Manager, it is listed under Unknown Devices. When I right click on it and go to Properties and then to Details, it shows under DEVICE INSTANCE ID the following - ROOTLEGACY_NPF|0000 What is this unknown hardware device? Thanks for any and all help.

Does Spyware-Buddy or other links at Similar pages help?

If this is a software program - spybuddy, which it looks like it may be - how does it show up as a hardware device?

By adding a key to the registry in the hardware section.
