    Outlook Formatting (Outlook 2003)

I recently had someone ask this question, and as it is one which also drives me crazy thought I'd post it here and hope for some enlightenment:

The problem is a client who is using WORD as their email editor.

When they reply to an email, word fires up (as you'd expect) and you start typing in above the original email.

The problem is that word defaults the font to the same font/colour/size as the email you are replying to and not what the client might think is the correct style.

I guess word is doing this as it opening what it sees as an existing word doc.. and it uses the saved formatting...

How do I stop this from happening? (without removing word as the email editor as they are adamant they need it)
Word ignores all the font settings for emails in outlook as you are essentially not using outlook.. so where to now?

If anyone can help you will have saved many people much frustration.

    Thanks.

Is it possible to define a persistent style when Word is the editor? The user would have to apply that style, but then could continue working in paragraphs of that style. Perhaps an AutoText entry could be used to set up the reply styling?

Thank you - my tunnel vision didn't let me see that. I've had a play and it seems to work, as long as you have your email formatted as HTML. So even if you receive one in plain text you can change the formatting and call up the autotext entry complete with formatting style.
