    PH dilemma (Access2003)

Hi! I am seeking your advise (what else is new right?)
I have a Page Headers for 10 SUB Reports - all different - and my boss did not want to see each section on an new page, she wanted to have them roll one ofter another.
What she does not like now is the fact that sometimes if section starts at the bottom of the page - she sees section with no data (there is simply no place for data - it is a very bottom) and than section shown again on the next page with data showing as suppose to.

I am looking for some command that will say - Header! If you are at the bottom of the page - do now show up!
I have no idea if it is all possible unless I am taking the width of the header into consideration and wrirting something like for that like you tought me in how to DrawLine and say
If Header starting lower than 7in from the top - make it invisible true...

    I hope I am clear...:-)

    Thanks so much

Do you really mean page headers? As far as I know, the page headers and footers of a subreport aren't displayed. The report header and footer are, though.

    Try the following:
    - Open a subreport in design view.
    - Activate the Sorting and Grouping window.
    - Click in the row for the relevant grouping level.
    - Select "With first detail" from the "Keep Together" dropdown at the bottom of the Sorting and Grouping window.
You'll have to repeat this for the others, there is no general setting for this.

    Oh, gooddness!
So easy and brilliant!..it is not working for me:-(

All Subs are in Main Report's Group Header. I did the same for the Main as well and it is still showing up at the bottom of the page...

I just tested it again to make sure, and it does work for me, so without seeing the database I can't tell why it doesn't work for you.

    Re: PH dilemma (Access2003)

One thing I want to add. When I am opening SUB Report it looks good and GH is always on another page at the top.
So if I am changing it to With First Detail - it will afeect Sub only, right?
The problem starts when SUBS are rolling after one another...I have section set to Repeat Section - YES.
    Maybe this is the reason?

I'm afraid the screenshot doesn't provide a clue for me.

Where have you set Repeat Section to Yes - in the subreports or in the main report?

Each of the SUBS has it for each Group Header so if it rolls over to another page - it doesn't get separeted.

    Re: PH dilemma (Access2003)

When I set Repeat Section to Yes for the group header and Keep Together to With First Detail for the grouping level, the repeated group headers aren't displayed at the bottom of a page. So I can't reproduce your problem, sorry.

    Re: PH dilemma (Access2003)

Apparently Access isn't able to handle these properties correctly in a complicated report. The group header is in fact split over two pages even though its Keep Together property is set to Yes.
Since it is a bug in Access (as far as I can tell) I don't know a real solution. You could insert a page break control between the subreports.

What do you mean by "keep all on one line"?

    Re: PH dilemma (Access2003)

Keeping in line meant that I would like to have a look of the Report where every column doesn't go like steps.
I would like to have everything displayed on one line.
I know you said previously - probably not possible but now when you saw the actual Report - maybe?

    Thanks

P.S. I had page breaks but client did not like it because sometimes section contains just one record and the rest is blank so I was asked to have them roll one after another...
