    Recovery disks (XP-SP3)

I am going to upgrade to Vista Home Premium, using my HP-supplied Vista Upgrade kit. I have a set of XP recovery disks from 20 months ago when computer was new. Should I make a new set of recovery disks? Did the Windows Updates change the system files that go on the recovery disks?

Yes, Windows Update has changed many files. You should always backup your data at a minimum before attempting a major update. Even better is a complete system backup using an imaging tool (search the Computer Security and Backup section for threads about products).

Burn a image using TrueImage or Shadow Protect or some other imaging program before install Vista. This will allow to you get back to EVERYTHING in XP if Vista fails.

Is this DVD from HP the one for a "Vista Ready" machine?
If so you really will want to do a image, as a lot of these have FAILED.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
