Moving files and folders to Documents (Vista Ultimate SP1)

I am having problems moving files and folders from the desktop to subfolders in Documents. I'm not sure how long this has been going on, so am unable to relate it to any particular Windows update or installation of new software.
I use the cut and paste method to move a file or folder to the target folder in Documents. However, the file or folder appears in Documents, but is not moved into the target folder I have selected. It takes several attempts to then move the file or folder into the correct Documents subfolder. There are no error messages, and no intervention from UAC.
I am the administrator and sole user.
I would appreciate your advice on this quirky and tedious problem.
    Many thanks in advance.

I have found a solution, using a registry fix found at
    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vis...ght-click-menu/
I have added the "copy" and "move" registry fixes without problems.

I'm glad you found a satisfactory answer! But, for your additional Vista "pleasure" <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> I thought I'd point out again a utility that's been mentioned here before: WinBubble 1.73, "Customization and Tweaks..." was released.

I don't remember whether it's pointed out in both the Vista and Software forums or not, but it's how I added those same two "features" to my Vista context menu, AND it's recommended by Woody! Happy computing...

Thank you for the recommendation. I have no idea why files and folders would not go where I tried to move them by cut and paste, but now have both a fix, which is a great improvement, and a new program to add to my Vista pleasure. Much appreciated!
