    firefox and accuweather (Firefox 2)

A friend tries to go to www.accuweather.com using Firefox and the page starts to open but then she gets an error message saying "firefox has encountered a problem and needs to close" No other links cause a problem. What can she do to resolve this? She is running Windows XP Home edition.

A "hard crash" may be caused by a problem with rich media (e.g., Flash, Windows Media), or a script, or both. Usually HTML and CSS alone do not cause that kind of crash.

Because weather sites tend to have a lot of third party advertising, and this rotates, it can be difficult to track down the problem. As a NoScript user, I tend to see fewer of these problems because a lot of "unnecessary" scripts are not allowed to run.

One other possibility is an extension, such as a toolbar that does context-sensitive things on different web sites.

I am not familiar with NoScript - what is it and how do we get it?

It's a free add-on for Firefox: NoScript - JavaScript/Java/Flash blocker for a safer Firefox experience!.
<hr>The NoScript Firefox extension provides extra protection for Firefox, Flock, Seamonkey and others mozilla-based browsers: this free, open source add-on allows JavaScript, Java, Flash and other plugins to be executed only by trusted web sites of your choice (e.g. your online bank), and provides the most powerful Anti-XSS protection available in a browser.<hr>
