    Microsoft IntelliType & IntelliMouse

I am now using a wireless keyboard & mouse. To be specific the mouse is a Wireless Optical 2.0. The keyboard is a Wireless Comfort Keyboard. Model: 1027.

My questions concerns the IntelliType software on my computer. WinPatrol says that the software can be safely removed (ipoint.exe) because most of the standard Intellipoint and IntelliMouse features have been integrated into the Windows 98/ME/XP/2000 operating systems. I have both set to startup when windows starts.

Is WinPatrol correct? Will my wireless mouse and keyboard work properly without those files?

If you have installed the most current versions from Microsoft leave them alone. They will give you the best performance and stability for your devices. If you have NOT installed the most current versions from Microsoft go to Download Software, download the version for your hardware and install it.

Yes, Joe. I believe I have the last versions of both, they are version 6.1. I will leave the files in place.

Without the Intellimouse and Intellitype software, the keyboard and mouse would operate as a generic keyboard and a generic mouse but you would lose the "extra functionality" that is included with those devices. I second Joe's advice. <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>

Thanks Tricky, I have thrown removing them out of my mind. They will stay in place as long as I have a Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard, wireless or not.
