Unable to add/change Search provider (I.E. 7 Pro)

I am unable to add a search provider. I click on the one that I want, and I get no changes. It still shows Live Search and nothing else. I followed the instructions listed and still nothing.
Note: I use IE 7Pro and even changed it to Google in there as well and again no joy. I use the new MSN Toolbar and thought that that may have been the problem so I uninstalled it and again I am still unable to change providers.
    Thanks John

Am I correct in assuming that (for example) How do I change the default search engine in Internet Explorer 7 (IE7)? on Dave Taylor's website doesn't help?

You are correct in assuming that that does not work. When the page opens to show the providers google, etc. there ore no errors on the page. However when I click on one of them i get an "error on this page" in the status bar.
    Thanks John

See if the suggestion in Error "Element not found" when attempting to add a Search Provider in Internet Explorer 7 helps.

You can also try the following:
    - Select Tools | Internet Options...
    - Activate the Advanced tab.
    - Click Restore Advanced Settings.
