    NT4 Network Speed

OK ... even though my MCSE is in NT4 I work on 2000 and 2003 servers now and I can't remember how to establish the network speed/duplex settings of a server's NIC. Often it can be done via the NIC driver management utility but this is a VMWare ESX virtual machine and I can't find anywhere to get this info.

    Any ideas?

    Re: NT4 Network Speed

A quick Google for '<code>VMWare ESX duplex setting</code>' brings up quite a few hits, including:

Change Ethernet settings in VMware ESX.

    Any use?

    Re: NT4 Network Speed

    Hi Leif,

A useful page which I've bookmarked but doesn't help I'm afraid. I've established that the NIC speed on the host ESX system is 1Gb so that's not a problem but I cannot for sure establish what speed/duplex the NIC on an NT4 guest vm is running at, logic tells me it should run at 1Gb but the server is performing very badly. Maybe that's because it is a BDC and is simply being overwhelmed but my gut feeling is that the NIC's are running at 10Mb ... the reason I think that is because I built a 2003 guest vm and that reports its speed as 10Mb. I don't know how to check what speed the virtual NIC is running at.
