Program CD

I have a familiar problem and would welcome a tip or two on dealing with it. I have a fully-installed program, which I think was working at one time, (and which in this case is PaperPort Pro 11), and if I try to start it from the start menu it wants a CD to configure it. Swell, but the CD is in another city (and I have not one but more than one CD for that program). If I knew what to look for, chances are I could restore it from one of my many backups from a time at which it was working. I think it may have become corrupted when I installed some new hardware which included the 'lite' version of it.

I suspect we have all run into the problem before, but it's awkward when you don't have the CD with you.

My solution to this problem is to store soft copies of all my CDs on a share. I use Virtual CD to access these.

It appears that they have a support site at Nuance - Support. Might be worth an e-mail.

Yes, BUT, one MUST set up a account, and the following is from the page to send a email!

Contact Technical Support
Individual users can interact with Nuance Technical Support through a pay per-incident email process. Incidents can be reported by completing the Problem Report Form at a cost of $9.95 per incident.

There is NO way of contacting Nuance without a $9.95 fee! This has been the number one reason I am moving away from "Omnipage". Nuance bought out Scansoft and the first thing in place was the contact fee.

I see your point. There are some free support "communities" mentioned on the site, but even these look somewhat obscured from ready access.

I did finally find the page where I could download a OmniPage 15 file that would work with Vista. They sent us registered owners a link that did NOT work for over a month, so I gave up on them. I just happened to find it when I was up there checking their Support page today.
