    C Parsing Error...who's to blame ??? (2002 / SP2)

Edited by HansV to replace link with attached picture

    Hello...

    On my work AND home machines...every time I load an SD card in my HP PSC 1610 printer...to transfer digital photos to that computer via HP Director's 'Transfer Images' functionality...I get this;

I normally just hit OK...at which time it either transfers for me...or I get a secondary warning of another sort...for which I also hit OK; & it transfers for me as well...

But it got to the point whereby it became very annoying...so after downloading/installing the latest HP Director driver...I contacted HP tech support to get it fixed.

First...they gave me an alternate method for photo transfer.

I e-mailed them back & said...no, no, no...you see...I actually would like to use your product for the task it was designed to do.

So they e-mailed me back & told me it was a problem w/ the operating system. This sounds like BS to me...but I figured I would inquire here where folks really know the nuts & bolts of XP.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

It's probably HP's problem, the error relates to .NET. See if uninstalling .NET framework and installing the latest version of .NET helps (check your version and maybe d/l the latest version first).

    John...

If I download/install SP3...that will also give me the latest .NET version, right?

    Thanks,

The .Net Framework is not part of Windows XP, so updating Windows to SP3 won't do anything with the .Net Framework.

Download details: .NET Framework 3.5 is the latest version of .NET. If you decide to install it , I'd recommend that you download the full resdistributable package (the link is a little more than half way down the page). I had a problem on a couple of machines with just using the smaller setup package and letting it download what it determines you need. But all machine, including the problem ones, have worked with the full package.

OK...installing the latest .NET Framework worked...thanks very much !!!

So now...I'm left w/ this (a script error of sorts):

Any ideas as to how & rid myself of this remaining error ???

    Thanks again,

Have you tried disabling script debugging in IE? Tools | Internet options | Advanced.

    Re: C Parsing Error...who's to blame ??? (2002 / SP2)

    Joe...

I will...I'm trying that in a minute or so...but another quick question first:

Now that I have .NET 3.0...my Add/Remove Programs looks like this when populated:

    http://www.moonjams.com/NET.jpg

Looks like 2.0 came along for the ride when I got 3...but can I now safely delete 1.1 & its HotFix?

    Thanks,

    MF

UPDATE: Script debugging IS disabled in IE.

I'd leave 1.1 alone. If you have an application that requires 1.1 it won't run if you uninstall it.

    Joe (& everybody)...

Just following up here...this is still the case:

    http://www.moonjams.com/HP_ScriptError.jpg

...& script debugging is disabled in IE

any further ideas, or should I just live w/ this?

    Thanks,

Did you also Disable script debugging (Other)? And is 'Display a notification about every script error" clear?

Unfortunately, I think it may be time to try HP support again. Your operating system is up to date. The error you are now getting appears to be an application problem.
