    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

If you look at our Main Index, you will see that we have forums for many subjects.
The one where you posted this question, Lounge Matters, is intended for questions about Woody's Lounge itself.
It would be best to ask a question about ZoneAlarm in the Computer Security and Backup forum - that forum is dedicated to security software such as firewalls, anti-virus programs etc.

By the way, the picture in your signature doesn't work. Please visit the Edit profile page and scroll to the bottom. You can specify that you want to upload a picture for your signature there. See screenshot below (the button will say "Browse..." instead of "Bladeren..." on your PC)

Welcome to the lounge. You are absolutely correct in your usage. You have made a post, and the post with all its replies is called a thread.

I have moved your post to the forum titled Computer Security and Backup, because that is where we discuss firewall software. The Lounge Matters forum where you posted your question is used for discussions about the lounge itself.

There are quite a few loungers who use ZoneAlarm, so hopefully someone will be able to offer you advice about which version works with Windows Vista, in the meantime it would be very helpful if you could let us know what happens when you install ZoneAlarm. Do you get an error message, or does it fail in some other way?

May I add my WELCOME also, mate? Hope you enjoy your visits with us.

As to Zone Alarm in Vista, my current recommendation is DON'T do it! I have only added Vista to my computer three months ago and have been having problems that seemed to be EITHER Firefox browser, Vista itself or Zone Alarm. Please give a read through <post:=722,629>post 722,629</post:> thread for some of the details. After much trial and error and reading a lot of places on the web, the accusing fingers continued to point to ZA, so I removed it and just replaced it with Comodo firewall. So far it's been a success. <post:=724,032>post 724,032</post:> Here's another thread I started to learn a little about Comodo: <post:=724,618>post 724,618</post:>.

    Thanks guys.
I knew I would make a mess of my first post.

Don't worry, we've all had to learn (and are still learning).

Feel free to ask more questions!

As for ZoneAlarm <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> I am using it on two laptops and one desktop with Vista SP1. It works just fine. The version that we have is 7.1.254.00. When downloading one MUST be using a machine with Vista on it. If one is on a XP machine the version downloaded will not work with Vista. The download process looks at the OS and will download the correct version.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

But Dave, please be careful of my chosen remarks. He's a Firefox user and the combination of Fx, Vista AND Zone Alarm seems to be problematic and I don't know why or which product needs a fix. But there are many posts about it in many places. You're an IE user and there's no problem there that I discovered. (I was also using the 254 version.)

Re: Toe in the water !!

Yep, been there and done those. However, your first link says that Fx should have "server" authority in ZA and the Fx example says those two columns are irrelevant so I don't know who to believe. Remember, if you're read my other posts, that Fx ran, it just HUNG and became UNRESPONSIVE after a period of running and browsing. Anyway, I'm already deep in to Comodo and it looks like I won't be going back to ZA, at least for awhile.

I did use an XP machine to download ZA.

    Thanks Gus.
