Problem with corrupt files (XP SP 3)

Hello and , please! I received an error message that there were corrupt files in my Local SettingsTemp folder. I narrowed it down to: WPDNSE, nro.log, nero.SH! and inside that folder cab.SH! I have done everything I can think of to delete them but I get a message that the file or directory is corrupt or unreadable. I believe at least some of these files belong to Nero. It suggested I run check disk. I ran a disk check but it stopped with an unknown error. I used the Nero Clean Tool twice - still there. I did a system restore back to the point where I uninstalled the Nero 7 Essentials version I was using. Still there. Ran a regedit - just to look - and found nothing. Googled it but the fixes are way, way - I mean way - over my head. Any suggestions? I have been at this for hours now!
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Woody's Lounge.

You might want to try the utility Unlocker. If it cannot delete the file or folder and offers you the option to deal with the file or folder on your next reboot, say yes and then reboot. HTH.

Re: Problem with corrupt files (XP SP 3)

I have a very strong feeling that WPDNSE is a folder created by Windows Media Player 11, I use Unlocker quite a lot but can I suggest that before you try Doc's idea try uninstalling WMP11 and see if the folder disappears. If you do delete it using Unlocker you may find it self-replicates.

As for the Nero files, I have no knowledge

Thank you both for your suggestions. It took a while but the light bulb finally came on and I thought - hmmm, corrupt files? Try to reinstall the program Nero Essentials 7 which is exactly what I did. I waited awhile - yes, I was , and I uninstalled the program and it seemed to work. I ran a disk check, a few errors were corrected and the system seems okay.
Now I've got another bigger problem and when I can't figure it out and am ready to and I'll be back!
Thanks, again.
