ODBC authentication resets (3.70.06.23, dated 11/06/98)

Wondering if anyone can shed light on this... my ODBC connection keeps resetting to NT authentication, when I need it to stay as a login to SQLsvr. Hint: problem began when IT 'upgraded' a connection to this group of servers overseas. I will try to find out more about this upgrade, but I don't think it's a red herring.
Mixed Win2k/NT4 environment. Feel free to ask questions, as I am sure I didn't give enough info.

Are you saying that the DSN keeps getting changed? What version of Access and SQL Server are you using?

Yes, it seems to be resetting occasionally, and I don't know how to reproduce the effect (it may not be in my control).
Access 2000, local SQL driver version listed in subject; actual SQL version unknown (will find out).

Well, I got a little news. It seems someone has done some aliasing of servers, or something ['it's complicated' is all i could get from him], preventing the DNS to be recognized, even tho the IP pings and the ODBC tests out okay.
[vent] I swear, ten-year-old kids know more about this stuff than I do, and probably more than our IT guys! [/vent]
