    Screen Saver Hibernation (XPP (SP3))

I have attached a screen shot of my screen saver settings and my power management setting for my laptop. The problem is, the laptop is not going into hibernation. Screen Saver works ok.

Try a different screen savor, as the one you are using is accessing the disk and keeping it awake.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

What do you have on the Hibernate tab of the power settings?

I suggest you go through How to troubleshoot hibernation and standby issues in Windows XP to see if any of the items cover your issue

Have you tried disabling hibernation, rebooting and then enabling hibernation again and rebooting ??

Jezza: Here is the info on the computer:
3 yr old HP dv5000 CTO (Laptop), Windows XP Pro (SP3) AMD Turion 64 Mobile Processor, 2.19 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM. 120G Hard Drive.
Wireless, software VPN by JiWire. Zone Alarm Security Suite V: 7.0.483.000, Spybot S&D,
All patches and updates applied. Although this has no bearing on the problem HP recently (last week) replaced the screen for me.

Doc: No I haven't tried that will do that later today.
    Thanks John

Thins to check in addition to Jezza's link.
1.) Any scheduled jobs that might simulate keyboard or mouse input so the PC thinks it is active.
2.) Any background task (such as those in your system tray) that may do the same.
3.) Can you successfully force hibernation?

    1.) Is your VPN active?
2.) Can you disconnect from the internet & disable ZA to see what happens?

1.) Is your VPN active? Yes
2.) Can you disconnect from the internet & disable ZA to see what happens? Haven't tried that. Will have a go at a few of these suggestions today and get back to you.

I am not sure what I did or what, but at least now the screen is going dark after the proper amount of time, and the laptop seems to be going into hibernation. All of this with Outlook, VPN, and Active Sync running.
Thanks for all of the helpful input
