    Repeated error (Outlook 2007)

    What the heck is causing this -- repeatedly? I can usually re-boot and it fixes, but I don't think I *ever* got this in 2003.

    I'd love to fix this.

    Some process has the file assigned. Perhaps Outlook did not really close. Sometimes the UI goes away but the .exe is still running. Neext time this happens, start Task Manager and check your running processes to see Outlook.exe is still runnning. End the process and try to start Outlook again.

    This sort of behavior happens mostly when some addon is still running.

    Joe:

    Some add-on has to be grabbing the file before I even start Outlook. I've gotten that error at times just after a reboot. I'll have to paw around and see if I can figure the add-on.

    An Outlook add-on will not run immediately after a re-boot until Outlook itself is started. It is more likely be some process that starts automatically on a boot or a scheduled job. Have you used something like AutoRuns for Windows to check what is being started when you boot the system? You could also use Process Monitor to monitor file activity.
