I am about to set up WHS and was wondering if anybody knows if you can run MS Office products from the WHS by linking to the exe file from the other computers.

That will not work as there are many more files than the .exe that are required to run any Office application. Are you using an OEM or a home built WHS? The OEM versions I've seen are not configured with the hardware required to be a general purpose machine.
