    Hide Column (Excel 2003)

Is there a way to hide a row or column so that the user would not be able to unhide it using the menu options for hide / unhide?

I know I can do this with a sheet using sheet.visible = xlsheetveryhidden, but have not been able so far to find the option for a row or column.

    Thanks
    Richard

If you protect the sheet (Tools | Protection | Protect Sheet...), you can specify whether the user can format rows and columns.

That will work. The sheet will protected when it goes out for editing.
Only specific cells are available for changes.

    Thanks Hans

How difficult would it be for some one to break the Protection?

You can protect the sheet with a password. This is sufficient for users who are just curious. But for someone determined to "hack" the sheet, it isn't too hard to do - if you search Google you'll find many utilities that will either retrieve the password or unprotect the sheet without using the actual password.

I do not think any of the users of this sheet would go looking for a way to crack the password.

    Thanks for your help.
