Convert digits to words (2007 SR-1)

Does anyone know of an available means of converting modest digit sequences such as 40 to text (forty) or vice-versa. Years might also be convenient (In the year of our Lord 1940).

You can use a Word field for this, for example:
    - Press Ctrl+F9 to insert field braces { } (don't type { } yourself!)
    - Type <code>quote "40" * cardtext</code>
    - You should see <code>{ quote "40" * cardtext }</code>
    - Press F9 to hide the field code and update the field.

See for example the thread beginning at <post:=289,390>post 289,390</post:> or the one beginning at <post:=177,341>post 177,341</post:> if you prefer VBA code.

    Terrific, thanks.

I can't resist. How about translating 1940 to MCMXXXX (or whatever it is)?

    Right-click the field.
Select 'Show field codes' from the popup menu.
Change the * cardtext switch to * ROMAN for upper case roman numbers, or to * roman for lower case roman numbers.
Press F9 to hide the field codes and update the field.
