    Welcome to Woody's Lounge.

    I'm afraid that the document that you attached doesn't help - the only way to open it is by removing the data source, and then it's just a blank document...
    So please provide more information.

    Re: Mail Merge (2003)

    Iam working on primavera contracts manager, herein we have a module called letters this uses some predefined mail merge templates. right now iam defining these mail merge templates for use by the business users.

    each letter have 3 components, first basic information about the letter second the distribution list for the letter & third attached filed with the letter. as of now i have created 2 views first view captures information from basic informatio table and also master key of attachments, logic is if master key is null then there are no attachments.
    First mail merge file is main word document and code if as follows
    {MERGEFIELD Subject} {MERGEFIELD To}{MERGEFIELD Date}
    {IF {MERGEFIELD BASE_MASTER_KEY}<>"" "{INCLUDETEXT "E:Attachments.doc" *MERGEFORMAT}"}
    attachments.doc is second file and the code is as follows
    {MERGEFIELD ATTACHMENTFILENAME}

    Thats it, and each letter will have more than one attachment files so my aim is to print only the filename of the attachment.
    Next STEP: if attachement.doc appears in the main file my next task will be to group all the attachments and number them

    Incase of any further information feel free to contact me

    Re: Mail Merge (2003)

    I'd try with a simple document Attachments.doc containing some fixed text only, to see if that works.

    Hi samoiz,

    You need to be very careful with the spacing in IF field coding. try:
    {IF{MERGEFIELD BASE_MASTER_KEY}<> "" "{INCLUDETEXT "E:Attachments.doc"}"}
    Note the space after the <>.

    Hi samoiz,

    OK, what do you get with just:
    {INCLUDETEXT "E:Attachments.doc"}

    Re: Mail Merge (2003)

    Your mail merge document "worked" when I created a small data source and a small document Attachments.doc with fixed text (no fields). So please try the suggestion from my previous reply.

    Re: Mail Merge (2003)

    Hi samoiz,

    What are the actual codings of the IF test and INCLUDETEXT field you're using - the INCLUDETEXT field in the attachment to <post#=726559>post 726559</post#> has an invalid path, and it's different to what you've got in <post#=726582>post 726582</post#>. Also, please provide examples of what {MERGEFIELD BASE_MASTER_KEY} and {MERGEFIELD ATTACHMENTFILENAME} return when they're not embedded in other fields.
    Cheers,

    Re: Mail Merge (2003)

    Sorry for the confusion, i was testing with both the MERGEFIELDS SUBJECT & BASE_MASTER_KEY. my intention of doing that was to enhance the chance of success.

    Hi samoiz,

    Yes, it is confusing.

    So, what are your actual data fields named and what do you get if you simply merge the corresponfing records into a document?

    Re: Mail Merge (2003)

    Hi samoiz,

    Please provide a representative set of examples of the data returned by:
    . {MERGEFIELD BASE_MASTER_KEY}
    . {MERGEFIELD ATTACHMENTS}
    With {MERGEFIELD BASE_MASTER_KEY}, please be sure to include the 'nul' result.

    Re: Mail Merge (2003)

    Base Master Key output 000K4KQGI6130000000000KINA, in place of attachments output iam using fixed text in attachments.doc. coding for the IF statement is {IF{MERGEFIELD BASE_MASTER_KEY}<> "" "{INCLUDETEXT "E:Attachments.doc"}"}
