Problems with many, many old messages (Outlook 2007)

My boss has a few years of emails stored in five or six ost files (three are 1.8gig the others a lot smaller)
The thing is, when he logs into outlook on another machine in the network it will download all the old emails.
Is there a good way to store all these emails somewhere away from the exchange system. So he just has them locally - and not on the network.

    Regards
    Ed

Turn on Autoarchive - Tools | Options | Other | Autoarchive. Set the general archive options there including where the archive .pst file is stored. The general options can be overridden for any individual Outlook folder by right clicking on the folder and selecting Properties | Autoarchive.
