    TEMP Folder Placemenrt (Home Premium)

I'm connect to a home network, but also connect to the net via cable modem.

I just ran Windows Update, during which it tried to install an update and gave me an error that it couldn't access T:.....

T: is on another machine on my home network, NOT the one getting the update.

Is it looking for some TEMP folder setting, and if so, where can I find and adjust it to look and store on my dri9ve "C"?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

Could it be that you have some required folder redirected to T:? Is "couldn't access T:" the extent of the message?

    Joe:

No it points (when it happens) to a specific file.

I have T: mapped on my machine, but only for access. In other words I don't, I do not think, have it set anywhere. But it makes sense that it's trying to use it as a temp location of some sort, doesn't it?

Whenever I get this message it's during an install or update of some type (WInUpdate is what couldn't access it today...

Well, the Windows installer software does check to see what drive has the most free space and chooses that drive to decompress files and possibly for other temporary uses. So, try disconnecting "T:" and running the upates again.

So it's NOT user controlled? Strange, but OK, I can fix that, 'cause I can just disconnect from the network during...
