    This SITE

Why is it that when ever I try to come to this site and only this site I have to wait forever for it to open up?

I have high speed internet (8 and better) and still its like I on dial up when I try to open this site.

This is the only site I have this problem with.

Can some one answer my question?

Theere is nothing wrong on my end.

Went through allot of trouble to have this PC checked out.

I even had two people who live in different parts of this country try to get to this site and they too ran into the same problem.

    I thought it was fixed.

    We've switched our format to invitation only. <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

Seriously, the Lounge slows to a crawl from about 7-8 PM EDT while the server does a backup. Inconvenient, but much better the rest of the time.

Why would you want to leave CT?

A little "present" is attached from a fellow Nutmegger.

I've resized him so he's not squished and made the background transparent.

You have made Garfield thinner. Shameful! As the missus always says, he's not over-weight, he's under-tall!! I think he need's re-sizing again, the other way!

I don't know how long til he comes back, so I'll comment that you should notice that he's saved the image as a GIF rather than a JPG which is what you're currently using. With most graphic editing software, background transparency is an option, usually by selecting the color to be made transparent.

The big thing with Lounge userpics is that our software with display the image at 65 x 75 pixels, regardless what the size of the file is that you upload. This often causes visual distortion. He has adjusted the size of your image so that it fits within a 65x75 box. It left a little room on the sides I think but you can't see that with the transparency. Now you need to save a copy of his graphic on YOUR hard drive and then change your Lounge profile to get it implemented.

    Re: This SITE

    Al said it pretty well.

I used the GIMP as my editor and used the "magic wand" to selected the white areas around Garfield. I then deleted the white areas and resized the image to fit inside the Lounge's limits. Lastly I saved the file as a GIF.

It's an open source alternative to Photoshop. You can get it at http://www.gimp.org/ and there are some excellent tutorials at http://meetthegimp.org/ .
