    Conditional Formatting (2003)

I have created a very basic calendar in Excel to tabulate some data. In column B, starting at B2 I have the date at the start of the week (Monday)
and this is copied down. Columns C,D...I correspond to the days of the week.

In K2 I have the formula =NOW() formatted to dd/mm/yyyy.

I have created a conditional format with the formula =INT($K$2-$B2)-(COLUMN()-2)=0 so that it can pick up the current day of the week in the calendar and I can highlight it.

All I want to do is put a coloured border around the edge but for some reason it defaults to Black. Is there a trick I am missing?

When I look at the Conditional Formatting dialog, click Format... and activate the Border tab, colour is set to Default. You can select another colour from the dropdown.

I'm using Excel 2002 at the moment, I don't know whether that makes a difference...

Perhaps your home PC ran out of coloured pixels? <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

    Re: Conditional Formatting (2003)

I found it would only format in black until I selected the border colour, and then applied the border, so that the preview - as shown in Hans' attachment - displays the chosen coloured border. (i.e. you can't chose the border then the colour, you chose the colour, then the border.)

    (This was with Excel 2002)

Good point - that's indeed how you should do it: first select a colour, then click one or more borders or click Outline.

    Re: Conditional Formatting (2003)

...and that is the frustrating thing that I have had the issue with the home PC, it works fine here for what ever reason.

    I have a feeling Jezzarette 2 has been using the Pixel Scrubber too much <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15>.

Seriously though, this is an issue with the home PC that has been so fiddled about with over the years that it is getting a bit tired and needs to be wiped.

    Thx Leif
