    Javascript error

SORRY if this post is in the wrong section. I have suddenly began to get a pop-up error message (see attachment) when attempting to log on to certain web sites.
Please advise as to what may have precipitated this and how I can prevent it from happening. Thank you S Fox

    Re: Javascript error

What browser are you using when you get these errors?
Can you give some examples of the 'certain web-sites'?

    Re: Javascript error

SORRY Leif. A lapse of memory....should have indicated I am using XP Prof. SP2. Since submitting the post I now discover that when I click either the "My Home" key or alternatively the "Start" key then Mozilla Firefox I get the message shown in the attachment but the instant I click on the "OK" tab it proceeds to open my "Home" page, so the error does not just appear when trying to access "Certain" sites as I thought. Also, if it is any help, I have just accessed the web numerous times using I. Explorer and the message never appeared once so it looks like the finger is pointing to Firefox somehow. Regards SFox.

    Re: Javascript error

From the error message text it appears to be from the AOL toolbar. Have you recently installed or updated this? Perhaps you should uninstall & reinstall it.

    Re: Javascript error

Hi friends, (a) I have no recollection of ever having AOL on my computer, ( The only change I can recall making of late is that when I clicked on a video on one of several Christian based web sites I often visit, a prompt appeared informing me a Java update was required to view the said video so I accepted it. However I have just performed a System Restore to a date prior to that update and the problem still remains. And incidentally, when I clicked on the link in the email Hans sent me informing me he had submitted a response to my post, the message instantly appeared. (see attachment) which also shows a screen shot of five Java entries in the "Add / Remove Programs" in the Control Panel. I hope this shed light on the possible fault. Regards S Fox.

Edited by HansV to reduce picture in size - please don't post pictures larger than 640 x 480 pixels.

Profound apologies.... forgot to add the attachment.... here it is. SF

    Re: Javascript error

The mention of toolbar.aol.com in the error message strongly suggests that you have the AOL Toolbar for Firefox. You should be able to uninstall it from the Add / Remove Programs control panel.

    Hi there

I have a feeling you have a winamp toolbar. Have a look at ERROR: TypeError: Components.classes['@toolbar.aol.com/uninstallobserber;1'] has no properties in the Mozilla Support Forum. Have a look at the post from Bo who has a link on instructions on how to remove toolbars
