    Re: download pictures

On some sites, clicking on a picture (say a JPG file) opens it, and if Photoshop is your default editor for JPG files, it will open in Photoshop. (Other sites just display it on a new broswer page). Can you right click on the link or the picture and choose "Save target as" (or similar, depending on your browser) or "save picture as" and save the file to your computer?

    Which browser do you use?

    Hi there

    1) Open Windows Explorer
    2) Click Tools | Folder Options...
    3) Click the File Types Tab
    4) Scroll through the list and highlight GIF
    5) Click Advanced
    6) Highlight Open
    7) Select Confirm after download
    8) Click OK

Repeat for JPEG, JPG and BMP

    Re: download pictures

I'd like to say something about terminology here that I hope goes hand-and-glove with what Ian told you. When you click (or double-click) on an image, even when you're in a web browser, you are executing that image, not downloading it in the sense that download SAVES a somewhat permanent copy to your local hard drive. That's why your "default" graphics editor is opening. Of course, Jerry's instructions will help you to change that editor to the program of your choice.

But to truly download a copy of a picture, meaning to SAVE it to your hard drive for future use, you should always right-click on the image and choose to save it as a file, as pointed out by Ian.
