    flash player will not work

I am not sure if this is where I should post this but..... A friend I am helping has a Dell running XP Home. She goes to a Mary Kay site where she can "do makeup" but it requires Flash Player. But when she clicks on the "link" - a box comes up saying DETECTING FLASH PLAYER VERSION and just sits there. I tried both Internet Explorer and Firefox and get the same message on both. She has Adobe Reader 9 installed. I have downloaded and installed the latest version of Flash Player. Any suggestions?

    trebor,
Since you have already DL the latest version of Flash Player, have you tried to UN-install the older version, reboot and then try to install FP latest?

How do you UNinstall the flash player? It is not listed in the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in the control panel.

Use the uninstaller found at the bottom of Adobe Flash Player - Downloads.

If you don't see it in AddRemove, I use ZSOFT UNINSTALLER See screenshot.

Also besides the link that Joe supplied ( it may be to the same thing ) try ADOBE FLASH REMOVAL

The flash player is an activeX add-on to each specific browser. Look in your Add-ons for whatever browser you are using.

Actually, for what it's worth, Firefox uses the non-ActiveX version of the plugin in "C:WINDOWSsystem32MacromedFlash".
